A Promise Fulfilled

This week has been rough. I have to admit the first two days, my attitude was not very good. I was in a bad mood and I chose not to get out of it. I was stressed, feeling insecure, and just upset. What’s crazy, is that I have been thinking about Myanmar this whole week. I love looking back at my pictures, because no matter what mood I seem to be in they always make me happy. Anyway, I was looking through the pictures and I was reminded of God’s goodness through these precious children.

The second day in Myanmar, we headed over to the orphanage, Love Children’s Home, and met the kids for the first time. Right as I walked off the bus, this little boy named, Konintun, came over and grabbed my hand. Then, 4 other little boys, Jo Jo, Yan nai o, Thansein, and Nato came and joined. I was in love. They were the sweetest, cutest, most loving little boys in the world. They grabbed my hand, arm, leg, whatever they could hold onto and lead me around the orphanage. As I looked around at the other girls on our team, they were all surrounded by girls. As happy as I was to be with 5 cute little boys, I wondered why it was that I was the only girl with all boys (not that I was sad about it). The next day, it was the same. I was met by the same beautiful 5 little boys. Later that night, I was journaling and was reminded of something I had asked God for when I was 11.

In 6th grade, I was very insecure, as I am sure anyone is at that age. A Lot of the girls in my class had guys that liked them and I didn’t. My dad decided to pray that 5 boys would like me, so that I would feel better. He would pray constantly, and invite God into my insecurity. I had guys that I liked and dated in high school, and junior high, but they never really loved me fully. I started to believe God had forgotten about the prayer, because honestly, I had forgotten about it. Immediately when I was journaling that night in Myanmar, this prayer came back to me. I prayed for 5 boys to like me, and even though it happened years later; my prayer was never forgotten. There was a reason God blessed me with these 5 little boys in Myanmar. He never forgot, he just answered my prayer in a completely different way than I had imagined. It was better, greater, and it was more than I could have ever asked for. I had never felt so loved in my whole life. These five boys were not only the biggest blessing, but I reminder to me that God never forgets his promises. Even when we forget, get discouraged, God is working and waiting to bring us the best. I am so blown away by this, and it still brings me to tears.

The day we were leaving Myanmar, I shared this story on the bus with my team. I couldn’t even share everything, because I was crying so much. I am amazed by God and how he works. His blessings are always so much better than anything I could ever think of. By the last day, I not only had the first 5 little boys, but I was surrounded by so many more. It was God taking his promise and multiplying it over and over. My cup ran over, and I was blown away by the blessings pouring out during my trip. The love of those children changed my heart, mind, attitude, and outlook on life. I have never felt so loved in my whole life. There are so many more stories I want to share with you about Myanmar, because God did some crazy things.

I just want to remind you, if you are waiting on God’s promises, don’t become discouraged when nothing seems to be happening. I know that is so easy to say, yet hard to apply. But, I just want to remind you of God’s goodness and faithfulness. He never forgot about my little simple prayer, and he remained faithful. I didn’t know how he would answer my prayer, or when. But, I do know that God is faithful and wants to give us the desires of our hearts. So whoever you are, and whatever promise you are waiting on God for, keep putting your trust in him. I hope this story gives you hope, and encourages you while you wait upon the Lord.

HE IS SO GOOD.

Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
