The Start of Something New
I have been reading Isaiah 43 sporadically since January, and each time I read it, I it speaks to me differently. This is being written to the Israelites, and we mustn't take it out of context from whom it was written to, however, I think this verse is just a great reminder of who God is.
Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 “I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea….18 But forget all that -- it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness, I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” NLT
WOAH. Let me just let that sink in. Each time I read this, I am in awe of who God is. There are so many things I recognize in these verses, but I want to be very careful as to not disrupt what God is going to speak to you through these verses. I do want to share a bit about this though. In verse 16, The Israelites are reminded of what God has done in the past. He is speaking of the miracles that have already been performed, because they needed to be reminded of this in present moment. Following, Jesus says “but all of that that has happened in the past, is not even compared to what I am going to do.” He says, he is going to do something new. How cool is this? The God who parted the Red Sea, is going to do something that can’t even be compared to that. WHAT. Think about this for a minute. That is so crazy/ cool/ mind blowing. He says he has already begun it. And lastly, he follows with two statements that seem absolutely impossible. He says, he will make a pathway in the wilderness and rivers in a dry wasteland. These things are impossible by man’s standards, yet God is saying he will do them.
I think taking what God is saying to the Israelites here, and applying it to your own life can be transformational. Do you need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness and power today? Are you going through something that seems impossible? Let me just tell you, the same God that parted the Red Sea, raised people from the dead, healed the sick, opened the eyes of the blind, multiplied loaves of bread and fish, etc. Is the same God, you are serving right now. He wants to do something new. Do you believe that? Are you open to what God wants to do in your life? Do you think he can do it or are you limiting his power? Because, if I am honest, I have definitely limited God before and I needed to be reminded of the mighty God I serve. The God who did miracles for the Israelites is the same God who wants to do miracles for you. He loves you. If you want to do something you think is impossible, remember that you serve the God of the impossible. Don’t let fear keep you from fulfilling God’s plan and purpose for your life. Today, step into the “new” God has for you in your life, whatever that looks like. He has already begun a new work in your life, believe that and start living it out.
I encourage you to meditate on this verse, and allow God to speak to you through it. God has spoken so much to me in just those three verses, and I have benefited greatly from spending time in the Word and listening to God speak. So take a few minutes from your day and see what “new” thing God is wanting to do in your life today. It could be anything.
If you want to share what he spoke to you through doing this, I would love to hear! Email me, text me, or comment down below:)
